Chris May, Planning Partner in Howes Percival’s Leicester office has been selected to serve as a member of the University of Leicester School of Business’s External Advisory Board.

The University of Leicester School of Business (ULSB) was established in 2016 following the merger of the School of Management and Department of Economics to create a top class business school as an integral element of the University.

The External Advisory Board advises ULSB on its strategic objectives and its aim to create impact through its education, research and business relations. The Board provides ULSB with invaluable external perspective, providing informed guidance and access to high quality advice on a range of issues, helping to ensure ULSB’s activities are informed by best practice. Board members are drawn from senior figures in business and the community and are appointed for a three-year period.

Commenting on his appointment, Chris May said, “I’m delighted to have been selected to join ULSB’s External Advisory Board. I have strong links with both the city of Leicester and the University of Leicester having graduated from the University in 2003 and spent most of my career working in the city. As a specialist in town and country planning law, my work takes me across Leicester, the wider East Midlands area and the South Midlands. As a consequence, I have become ingrained in the development industry and its associated networks and organisations which I hope will assist in my role on the Board.

“I’m looking forward to working with ULSB to help realise its ambition to become one of the top business schools in the UK. From my involvement with the planning and development industry in Leicester and the wider region, it’s clear to me that graduate retention is an important component of a strong, competitive local economy. Leicester and the East Midlands are great places to do business and greater interaction between the University and the local business community should help to demonstrate this to the next generation of young professionals and budding entrepreneurs ”
